Marketing I (CTE Business & Marketing Essentials) is an introductory course for students interested in marketing and business. The course explores the fundamentals of marketing including economics, sales, product/service planning, and promotion/advertising, marketing research, communications, legal and ethical issues, and marketing career development. A hands-on, project oriented approach is used to make the class interesting and fun.

CIS 1018 Introduction to PC Applications

Introduces basic computer terminology, file management, and PC system components. Provides an overview of office application software including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and presentation graphics. Includes the use of a web browser to access the Internet.  Note: This course was previously listed as CIS 118.

BUS 1016 - Personal Finance

Surveys the basic personal finance needs of most individuals and introduces the personal finance tools useful in planning and instituting a successful personal financial philosophy. The course emphasizes the basics of budgeting, buying, saving, borrowing, career planning, investing, retirement planning, estate planning, insurance, and income taxes.  Note: This course was previously listed as BUS 116.

ENP 1005 Introduction to Entrepreneurship

Explores the business skills, personality traits, and commitment necessary to successfully plan, launch, and grow an entrepreneurial venture. This course will cover the challenges and rewards of entrepreneurship. This course will cover the role of entrepreneurial businesses in the United States and the world and their impact on our national and global economy. BUS 1015 - Introduction to Business

Introduces the application of fundamental business principles to local, national, and international forums. This course examines the relationship of economic systems, governance, regulations, and law upon business operations. It surveys the concepts of career development, business ownership, finance and accounting, economics, marketing, management, operations, human resources, regulations, and business ethics.  Note: This course was previously listed as BUS 115.

CTE Sports & Entertainment Marketing provides students with in-depth exposure to the importance and role of marketing, media and public relations in the event planning industry. Students will explore a wide range of marketing topics related to the sports industry including: sponsorships, apparel, advertising, brand loyalty, and target marketing. Students will engage in classroom experiences including researching career pathways and degrees, usage of technology in sports marketing, analysis of current sports related marketing trends, creation of promotional portfolios and interaction with sports marketing experts. Students will design a marketing plan to include target market research, communication tools, objectives, strategies and implementation.

MAR 1055 Social Media for Business

Focuses on the use of social media as a business strategy and how to match strategy with the goals of the business. MAR 2016 Principles of Marketing

In conjunction with our student store, SBE Ops Management is a behind the scenes of what it takes to operate and run a business. Students support the school store and business department with designing, producing, and fulfilling apparel orders that come from our school store. Students are trained on using heat presses, vinyl cutters, embroidery machines, and using our large format printers. Students will develop job-ready skills such as hooping, creating banners, order processing, and maintaining inventory. Students will also be designing CV gear as well as gear for outside businesses. Ultimately,  this course focuses on all facets of starting and managing a school-based enterprise. Focus will include writing a business plan, holding interviews, and establishing operating policies and procedures. Building a solid framework of work-based learning for the student.

Students will function as store managers for the school store. You will be responsible for all operations of the store, including product development, promotion and distribution of goods, pricing and inventory control functions. Students will properly supervise, keep merchandise on hand, and adhere to store operating procedures.  The school store is run by DECA.
