Film I (CTE Digital Media & Communications-AV1) - 7903112S1
Groups of students form small production crews to produce short movies. Students follow specific exercises with technical guidelines, but are encouraged to express themselves creatively. Emphasis is placed on elements of storytelling through a broad spectrum of approaches. Students will learn basic acting skills, film-making techniques, script-writing, and storytelling. Students are introduced to working in collaboration with fellow students while maintaining individual means of expression.

Intro to Journalism - 50409
Intro to Journalism is a 21st century literacy course that addresses the purpose, legal and ethical issues, style, and content of journalism. Students study professional mass media models and will practice producing content for high school media. The First Amendment, reporting and writing, photojournalism, graphic journalism, design and advertising are also covered. This course is suitable for anyone interested in journalism, and will help prepare you should you decide to assume a role on a student media (yearbook, newspaper, online) staff.

CVTV (Video/TV Production) - 70890
As an essential medium of Castle View student media, this course is focused on the planning, preparation, design, development, and evaluation of audio and video as a communication and entertainment medium. Students will work on school related video projects as well as work on creative projects that they come up with on their own. This class will meet on alternating days throughout the school year. Time will be required outside of school hours.

As an essential medium of Castle View student media, students will produce seven to nine issues of the school newsmagazine as they learn advanced methods of interviewing, journalistic writing, editing, graphic design, digital photography and advertising. This course requires students to be available after school, particularly during deadlines and emphasizes a team approach to a successful publication. Leadership skills are taught to members in editor positions. This class will meet on alternating days throughout the school year. Time will be required outside of school hours.
