Gifted & Talented
DCSD strives to seek out, surface, and nurture the potential in each student. We are committed to partnering with families and our community to recognize and support high potential, advanced, gifted and talented learners who require differentiated programming to meet their educational needs and prepare them for their chosen endeavors in society.
In accordance, CVHS focuses on the following:
-
Identifying, supporting, and developing talent and potential for accomplishment
-
Implementing and monitoring Advanced Learning Plans (ALPs) to nurture students’ agency, curiosity, and confidence
-
Providing appropriate learning opportunities based on students’ needs, motivation, and ability
-
Training and developing staff and faculty in methods and strategies of effective gifted education and advanced academics
Honors, Advanced Placement, Dual/Concurrent Enrollment, and Interdisciplinary courses are offered in many areas to meet the needs of our gifted students. Please refer to our current high school course catalog for a complete listing of opportunities and requirements for enrollment eligibility. In addition to academic programming options, all students create a personalized pathway to ensure post secondary readiness through the Individual Career and Academic Plan (ICAP) process.
